Let me begin by saying this: the food deserved a solid B+. The dish that I had (Chicken & Rose) was a creative mix of flavors and for the most part, a pretty dang good execution. That being said, the rest of the dining experience was lacking. We went for brunch at 11:45 on a Sunday. It took 15 mins for a server to come and take a drink order, at which point we ordered our meals. The drinks came out pretty quickly, but we waited for what seemed like a longer version of eternity for our food (about 50 mins). I'd only go back/recommend going at a time when they aren't too busy. It's also worth noting that the decor of this place is just bad. It's kitschy in every negative sense of the word. 2 stars. Both of them basically just for the food.

I wanted to love this place, just like the majority of my fellow Yelpers! Unfortunately, I didn't have a great experience. Here's how my experience played out... I was so excited to visit this restaurant, based upon the reviews...so hubby and I eagerly circled the block, and found a parking spot. We hurried to the restaurant, after perusing all the wonderful reviews. Upon entering, there weren't many people inside. A few people were at the bar and maybe two parties were at tables. We were seen, but not greeted. We weren't sure if we should seat ourselves...so we made an assumption and found our way to a table. Still no one said anything...we were only looked at. By and by....someone said that someone else would be right with us. Minutes passed and finally someone greeted us with menus. Keep in mind that there were plenty of employees standing around... We were very disappointed, and were thinking that this was a major indicator of how our dinner would go. Luckily our server helped to turn around our descent into disappointment. She was friendly, upbeat, knowledgeable about the menu and helpful. If I were reviewing her, I'd give her 5-stars! We ordered pizzas and an appetizer of Asian-styled dumplings. The dumplings were quite tasty. But my Ragin Cajun pizza was neither raging with seasoning nor reminiscent of anything Cajun like the name implied. Instead, it was bland and mild, even with the carmelized onions, crab, and baby salad shrimp. My experience fell flat. Our server told us that the menu would be changing and that the brunch was especially popular. I'm glad many have had positive and fabulous experiences at Grind. But unfortunately, our experience was the complete opposite of fabulous.

We had the signature burger and the sliders. Both came out hot and the burger was cooked perfectly. The cocktails were very good made you feel like you were sitting on a beach relaxing. The pub decor was very underwhelming compared to the outside seating.

I took my parents to The Grind for lunch and I am upset I had been here earlier. Cool decorations inside and fantastic tiki bar outside. We went inside because it looked like rain and was warm. They have a huge beer list and great drinks. My wife and parents had margaritas and went with an ipa. We started with a order of portabella fries and I wanted more of them. I had a fig flat bread that was fantastic, dad had a huge salad with shrimp, my mom had a small salad and lettuce wraps as a lunch combo and my wife had fish tacos and soup. Everything was great and nice portions. The menu is huge and I can't wait to go back to try even more.

My husband and I went to Grind for lunch while on vacation. When we arrived, we were the only people in the restaurant save one person at the bar. We ordered everything pretty much right away: the coconut shrimp for an appetizer, bison burger (husband), and the wagyu beef burger (me). It surprised us when after the appetizer arrived, it took quite a while for the burgers to come out. I literally watched people who came in long after we did receive their entrees before we ever touched ours. The servers kept telling us the burgers were coming out and apologizing, but we could never figure out any reason why the food would be so late. The restaurant wasn't at all busy, and there were only two of us. On top of that, my burger, which I'd asked to be cooked medium, was well-done and not very flavorful. My husband's was cooked perfectly and he enjoyed it. Our server was barely around to refill drinks or ask if we needed anything. When the check came, I regarded our lunch as a waste of $50. Yep, $50 for 2 burgers, 2 sodas, and an app. I'm happy to pay more for amazing food and service, but this was just meh. Not in a hurry to come back.

Pros: 1) They were somewhat friendly 2) the filet mignon was actually good, that would be the only reason why they would get the star (one for the filet) Cons: 1) the place wasn't busy but the waiters kept disappearing 2) the waitress messed up my order 3) the quality of food was poor 4) extremely high priced for the quality u r getting 6) they take forever to get the food 5) everything we got looked pretty but everything was cold!! And didn't taste good at all.. 6) it's too dark, their customers were using their phone flashlight to read off the menu and while they were doing that, they were flashing it everywhere and it was blinding me Will never go there again

Lunch Feb 26 Kona Tiki Bar Taken there and dined with a friend who lives in area for lunch. Honestly, my expectations were low - BUT boy was I surprised! First off, I appreciated the unique menu and their varying takes on the standard menu items. More places need to do that! Ordered the Grind Signature Burger. Not only was it presented wonderfully, it was very flavorful and packed with delicious ingredients. Loved that the bun stayed intact the entire time and kept the contents inside the burger all in their place. Fries were served in a separate wire basket and they were seasoned and paired perfectly with the burger. For "bar" food, this burger was way better than most that claim to have great burgers!

Got the Thai chicken pizza, outstanding. Place is really nice as well. Nice selection of beers. Very good drink menu. Definitely want to come back and try their steak and burgers.

The service , ambiance and music excellent, the cocktails very good. We had as appetizers tuna ahi poke and garbanzos, I had a very tasty bison burger with sweet potato fries. my wife ordered salmon which was pretty tasteless. We told the waitress but she did not acknowledge it, then we were not asked for another drink or offered desserts Stay with drinks and appetizers, burgers and pizza ok, not a place for entrees

Just moved back to town and found this great spot. Inside is kinda dark with a retro feel that I like. Out back is Kona tiki that is open air. Every time I go the staff is nice and even remembers me. Def a great spot for tourists to meet locals who know the town. They also have rooms for private parties. I had one for 20 in the "cellar" we had our own staff and bar tender. The manager that set it up even stayed to make sure it went smooth.

Yum yum yum! I feel like this is the most un touristy place to eat in Daytona that I've discovered. Fun, tiki style patio to enjoy the (just a tad too sweet, but your on vaca in Florida so You don't mind) cocktails and lunch! Amazing mahi tacos(especially with the house hot jalpeno sauce on the table) and the mr. had a great burger. So tasty! Our sever was fun, sweet and was around the perfect amount of time. Prices were great as well. A must in the Daytona area!

I give this place three stars... If it werent for their awesome Bloody Mary bar on Sunday's, I would have given even less. If they could improve the service, this place would be golden, but it cannot be overlooked. Every time I have been there, I have mentally prepared myself for the service and every time, I get more frustrated. Waiting 10-15 minutes get your drinks or worse, be greeted by your server is not a good way to start off.... Food takes forever and last time, my eggs were cold. Then to top it off, we waited an additional 10 minutes for our check and forever for our card to be returned to us. I know it is a busy place, but your servers should be able to handle the volume if they work there. It is really unfortunate they can't seem to get the service down. If you have a lot (and I mean ALOT) of patience, it might be okay for you...

I have been here twice, it's more of a partying type of place so if you're into that, add a star. The food is excellent and the outdoor seating is very nice seasonally.

Just look at the food posts - food-porn is what brought us here --- and they didn't disappoint. Live music was fantastic; seating at the counter facing the musicians is brilliant. Enjoyed the atmosphere and service; thanks guys!

Sunday fun day! If you haven't had a chance to make it for their brunch on Sunday's I highly recommended it. The stuffed French toast is amazing. The put a crispy coating on the outside so it is crunchy and soft inside. It's just heavenly. And the Bloody Mary bar... well what's not to live. Tons of ads ins and add ons, it's definite worth the trip up.

Thanks so much to Justin, the beach chair guy, for directing us to this awesome place. We have been there twice this week and experienced both the Tiki bar and Grind. We also have two children who cannot say enough about this place. This is a hidden gem and wish we had found it sooner! Food is delish and surprising. Flavors and combinations are amazing. My father in law, who is not an adventurous eater said the Eddie Would Go Kobe truffle burger was the best he has ever had!! You gotta try the Grind Signature burger- do not be intimidated by the fried egg. It gives the burger a dynamic creamy texture that is just...WOW! Plenty to share. Kids love the Margaritaville and Johnny Be Gouda pizzas. So fresh and tasty. Both places have a totally different feel (atmosphere) and are each amazing! Staff is friendly and happy. :) Cannot wait to come back to the Grind and Tiki Bar!

Solid brunch spot. Bottomless mimosas and salmon stacker in a fun, friendly spot. Try the poke nachos, too. If you're looking for a laid-back/cool vibe, this is it. I will definitely return anytime I'm in town.

We just moved to Ormond Beach area and though no one wants to pick a place when we go somewhere - my boyfriend said I want to try the Grind cause it says GastroPub - we have been there 10 or more times and love love love it The little black dress night is fun (people watchers) and the text specials are GREAT- if you want something special they will do it too. We get the tuna app deconstructed since he likes just tuna and wonton chips and I like all the sauces and 'goo' Beer choices are great and the staff actually has knowledge about what they have If your thinking about it Just Go- I promise you'll go back again and again try the pork wings!!! So Yummy and the pizza and signature burger rare!!!! It is all so good Ok now I'm hungry and going to try the brunch here today- if I can wake my boyfriend up

This is my favorite establishment in the area. I love the menu, the atmosphere, and the staff are exceptional. I met Kevin, the owner today and he hooked me up with a special dark beer. Kevin was able to score a single case for the year of Goose Island Bourbon County. 15% abv. We had 2 orders of Pork Shu-mais with ponzu dipping sauce. We had the poke nachos and 2 Grind Signature burgers and a Johnny Be Gouda Pizza. There were 5 of us and my mom's birthday. We had a great time. I love Kona Tiki Bar!

O.K. this place is the best kept secret in Ormond Beach. I love to research places to eat when on vacation down at my parents in Flagler Beach, and did I find a gem. The main dinning room is beautifully decorated with awesome paintings of the Universal Monsters and Marilyn Monroe. The only issue I had was when you first arrive, the front of the restaurant has completely tinted glass windows, so you don't know what to expect when you walk in. All that changes when you see the dinning room and bar. Then as you walk out the back door your greeted to an awesome courtyard that screams HAWAII. This is the second part of Grind called Kona Tiki Bar and it does not disappoint. As we were seated for a late lunch, we had live music in the background and started with some apps, the food has some cool names like the "running down a dream" truffle marinated portobello fries which were just mouth watering. Then for lunch I had the "higher ground" Lobster Grilled cheese, that was sooooo gooood, chunks of Lobster through the whole sandwhich. My wife and mom had the "sea of love" crab cake sliders, they ate the whole thing. Pops had the "love me Tender" veal osso-buco, french veal shank drenched in mushroom & manchengo cheese risotto. He could not finish it and had to take the rest home. Also the Mai Thai's and martinis were the perfect mix to a very happy eating experience. Did not get a chance to try the beers and believe me they have a ton of them. I will have to try them the next time we go down. The service was exceptional and the atmosphere was so laid back. If your on vacation near Ormond Beach, you really should go and check out Grind! Check out my pics and you'll see what I mean. Happy eating everyone!!!

Let me start this review by saying go there for the food, do not expect good service. In fact, expect terrible service. What a shame. Order your food to go and then you'll be happy! Parking: Valet only, from what I could tell. It's complimentary, but they still expect a tip. The gentlemen working were lovely. Atmosphere: This is a fun tiki bar. There was live music being played, which was very good, and the bar was packed. Decor: Tiki Bar, beach, island. The stools were lacquered so much that I kept sliding off mine wearing jeans. Be mindful! Food: This was my first time, but what my table collectively ordered was: coconut shrimp, pork 'wings' and the mushroom 'fries'. For starters, seriously, this set the bar high. Everything was cooked well, tasty, and presented in a really appealing way. For mains we had Blackened Fish Tacos, the Kobe Burger, and I ordered the Veal Ossobucco. The fish tacos had the potential to be good but were topped with far too much (what appeared to be) packaged kraft cheese. It took the presentation down to taco night at the house compared to everything else. The Kobe Burger was delightful. Cooked perfectly, yummy toppings, and we chose sweet potato fries with a pumpkin dip for the side. My meal, the Veal Ossobucco, was heavenly. The veal (I suspect it was just pork) slid off the bone, the mushroom and manchego risotto underneath was a perfect blend of cheesy, savory, and paired so well with the pork that every bite had me sighing in happiness. I also got the Hawaiian pizza to go with the spicy Cappicola. That pizza was unreal. The crust was exquisite, the flavors were amazing. I will absolutely drive from Orlando for the pizza alone. We were a very satisfied bunch. Alcohol: Great alcohol selection, no complaints there, aside from the bartenders seeming light handed on the pours. I ordered a White Russian which appeared to be missing half a shot of Kahlua. Service: Here is where they lost three stars. Yes, three. I dealt with two waitresses and a bartender and all three offered one thing consistently: supreme rudeness and apathy. A lot of 'I can't, you can't do that' amongst other things. After being sat we waited almost 10 minutes to be seen, at a table right next to the bar. After greeting our drink order took over 15 minutes. Appetizers, over 20, and dinner, over 30. I would also like to mention when I asked where my to-go pizza was, my waitress actually said, 'Oh, I guess I should put that in, shouldn't I? I totally forgot. It'll be 15 minutes, is that okay?' The waitress dropping off food didn't say a word to us and just scampered away, our main waitress did not refill ice waters (had to ask twice, then took her over 5 minutes) and getting the check was a nightmare. There is a point where so many things have gone wrong that your server just seems to give up, but that point happened at the beginning of the meal. We're not difficult diners, we didn't modify the food in any way, but the service was appallingly bad. I noticed around us a lot of unhappy diners and overheard a fellow table commenting on the rudeness/lack of attentiveness of our server, as well. Hopefully that staffing issue is addressed. After waiting too long for our check to be cashed out I approached a bartender to ask if I could break a bill to get change. I was told 'I can't break bills, your server has to.' I then asked if I could break another bill to purchase a drink. I was also told no, and to speak with my server. When I explained our check had been closed, she told me to tell our server to open a new check. I'm pretty forgiving when it comes to service, but this was just...mind blowing. I didn't see any managers walking around to speak with, and just gave up. Final Thoughts: Valet was great. Loved the atmosphere and the music. Drinks were weak, food was fantastic barring some presentation issues, and the service is some of the worst I've ever experienced, as a diner. I will absolutely order takeaway with this restaurant, but I will never sit and dine there again. Worth noting - there also wasn't a kid's menu.

I can't believe I haven't given a review for this place yet. Let me start out with a tip- the food is excellent with a unique menu and I recommend not ordering the ordinary (fish tacos, pork sliders) and pick the extraordinarily interesting (their spin on burgers, Johnny Be Gouda flat bread pizza, Layla pasta, sweet potato encrusted grouper, their spicy take on shrimp & grits, etc) Lunch is great. Take advantage of the lunch quick menu with includes soup or salad and an entree on a specific menu. The BLT made with fried green tomatoes is legit! Also the blackened mahi mahi sandwich has a fried green tomato on it. All sandwiches can be made as wraps. I recommend both! Now dinner. Don't jump to just entrees. The appetizers cannot be looked over. The portabello mushroom fries (this coming from someone who hates mushrooms) and phenomenal!!!!!! The coconut shrimp are the best I've ever had with that keylime spread, and the poke is great. They are staples! Their flatbread pizzas are all shareable and huge. You will be impressed when they come out. Not those little "flat breads" that for on a dinner plate - more like a real pizza size. Try them all. My favorite is the Johnny Be Gouda with the Thai chicken, but the fig and prosciutto is nice and so is the margarita. I wasn't a huge fan of the lobster one as it was struggling with not enough meat. The entrees are amazing! I haven't ordered anything I didn't love. My favorite is the "can't Get Enough" (sweet potato encrusted grouper). I can't get that flavor anywhere else and I haven't been able to recreate it at home. It's delicious. Can't say it enough. The fish tacos are similar to what you'd get around here with the chopped tomatoes and onions etc. nothing to write home about. That's the only slightly negative thing I can write and even they are still tasty. The Layla pasta has a spicy sausage that's delicious with the creamy sauce. The shrimp and grits have a kick and are tasty too. All their burgers are incredible including the bison meat. I won't try to describe them as there are too many to choose from. Just go with your gut. You can't go wrong. Now the drinks - all yummy. They don't post the alcohol mixed with all of them so you may have to ask a lot of questions. For girls that like sweeter drinks, go with strawberry fields or the original sin. Impressive to watch them make them all and they're made of real ingredients. The snore pizza for dessert. Trust me if you like marshmallows.

Great food and Great atmosphere. This is a place to put on your list when you are in the area. The remodel since it was Caffeine is nice and the menu is much better. Great selection of beers so get a flight of them. Outside seating is part of the Kona Tiki bar out back. You can easily blow some time here. Parking on the street if you wish but I prefer the back lot so my car does not get dinged.

Great pub atmosphere. The tiki bar in the back looked really fun, but we only came for an early dinner. The beer prices and selection were great. The food was delicious but a little pricey for the portions. Great fun spot we will definitely check out again for a night out on the town!

I'd really like to give this 2 1/2 stars -- two seems too low, but three seems a bit high -- but I prefer to err on the side of the positive for local businesses (especially restaurants). so I had lunch with family and friends here today (party of four), and it was sadly disappointing. the space is very fun and lively outside, and though I only ducked inside briefly, it looked like a nice space if you're looking for someplace quieter. the service was pretty slow, as has been mentioned, but it didn't really bother me; it feels like the kinda place you go when you're not in a hurry. it's kinda chaotic, so yeah, the food took awhile, but not what was to me an unreasonable amount of time. what -was- unreasonable was it taking maybe 45 minutes to get three glasses of water. like, we had our drinks (my Bloody was slightly bland, buuuut I spent the last three years in Milwaukee, so okay, I might be unreasonable) and appetizer before we got water, despite asking our server each time. I don't think it was our server's fault -- he apologized and said they'd run out of cups, which isn't in his control -- but it seems like there's a problem if a restaurant is running out of *cups*. and the food was... meh. we ordered the chicken satay, which tasted kind of off to my mother and me, but was fine for my father and friend, so maybe we just were expecting a more traditional version. both burgers ordered were quite overcooked and the fries were cold -- though to be fair, our friend sent one back, and when a fresh burger came out, she said it was excellent. I had the fish tacos, which weren't terrible but kind of tasteless, though I did munch on the sweet potato fries. we got there right at the tail end of the Sunday brunch rush, so I wonder if we just happened to get there when the kitchen and equipment and service was trying to get coordinated as it came down from the rush. not a place I'll probably suggest going for lunch, but certainly also not a place I'd object to going.

This is a great spot whether you want to hang out and drink or have a nice date night. The tiki bar is very nice. The inside for dining is great as well. The food was absolutely delicious! I had the shrimp and grits and ate every bite. I will definitely be back again! The reason I did not give it 5 stars is that the service was very slow.

Lovely stay-cation road trip stop. Recommend the draft IPA and Holly our waitress rightfully suggested the lunch menu version of the Yellowfin Tuna Pula wrap. We had sweet potato fries as the side & enjoyed our late lunch stop immensely. We sat outside &'enjoyed the last of FL's cool Spring weather in the low 80's with little humidity (hello!?)

I've been here twice now. The first time we started off in the Tiki bar and moved inside because so many people were smoking. Service left a little to be desired, but it was a Saturday evening and they were busy. I had a portobello mushroom burger with sweet potato fries and it was AMAZING!! Great flavor and toppings. The iced tea was awesome. I went back recently and the mushroom burger was off the menu. The rest of the menu leaves a lot to be desired for vegetarians. I went with the veggie pizza and I would rank it near the top of worst pizzas ever eaten. It had little sauce, and the sauce it did have tasted like ketchup. The zucchini on top were not cooked, even though the description said they were roasted - almost as if they were an afterthought. The center of the pizza was soggy and it had no flavor. The atmosphere is pretty cool, but until they add better vegetarian options, I don't think I'll go back any time soon. I'll keep an eye out for when the menu changes again.

The 60's Tiki Craze is captured here in infinite detail. The Kona Tiki Bar serves fantastic Island fare amidst an island of tiki mugs and bamboo. A must stop for creative dishes and a respite from the local chain restaurants.

I was in Ormond Beach meeting up with family for my godson's graduation from Embry Riddle. We were looking for a special place to go after the ceremony. Since it was noonish our options were limited. We could not have found a better place! Our waitress was lovely - very attentive and personable. The menu had great choices for all of us to get what we wanted - burgers were fabulous! The best part is the atmosphere in the back at the Tiki bar. Very thoughtful decor and creates a really fun vibe! I would go back in a heart beat!!

The service is friendly. Today Lauren greeted me and every customer with a warm, bright smile. The decor and atmosphere juxtaposes sophistication and relaxation. One would be comfortable enjoying a drink alone, bringing a date, stopping in for a girls' it guys' night out, or even bringing work colleagues for an afternoon get together. The food is amazing! I get something different from the menu almost every visit and doubt I will ever be let down. Taste and quality exceed my expectations.

Went here for the second time food was good for the second time the service was very poor had a 6 oclock reservation and was told that due to people sitting at the table we were asigned that we had to wait manager was very rude and did not care at all food was great but service will keep me from returning too bad that they will let shitty service ruin a great restaurant

I wasn't impressed last month when I posted my review. Based on our experience last night, I will update my review to 5 stars, because it was a great experience. There were a lot of different circumstances however which probably contributed to my satisfaction. My husband and I sat at the bar, we went much earlier in the evening, and we had appetizers, not entrees. My husband and I had a great, friendly bartender, name was Alex I believe. The other people behind the bar were also very friendly and attentive, granted it was not very busy yet. We had some drinks, and we ordered 2 appetizers, The margharita pizza, and the pork dumplings (I know there is a different name for them on the menu). The pork dumping were full and tasty, definitely plenty of food to share. The pizza was cooked perfectly, the crust was just right. It was cold outside so the pizza was not as warm as I would of liked, not their fault but maybe bring the pizza to the bar in a box, warm bag or covered, just because it's quite a distance from the kitchen. Either way, both apps were delicious and reasonably priced. We were too full to try the burgers again which were so dissapointing last time. Based on last night, we will go back. We will definitely go earlier in the evening as it seems they may start to break down when they are busy. I wish they had a place closer to Daytona, it's fun and inviting!

Great place for an indoor dinner with a few drinks or outside Cigars with a Florida beach life vibe. Drinks are reasonably priced. Food is a-okay. Probably the best place for Friday night drinks in Ormond.

Awesome. Great changes were made to renovate this place. Inside there is a hipster feel, with steampunk decor. Outside is a suped-up tiki bar. Fantastic ahi poke appetizer. Above average pizza, though I wish they used fresh figs on the fig/prosciutto pizza

So terrible!! No eye contact/customer service from the time we walked in the door to when we left over two hours later!! Waited 45+ mins for appetizers w/o anyone even acknowledging it. Finally got our meals even later. Food was NOT gastropub quality. Bar food at best. Terrible service and worst of all no one cared....not the bartenders or managers or even the owner...at least I assume the guy in the cheesy silver suit was the owner. To top it all off they got our bills wrong and "comped" $2 off our apps. Ridiculously, embarrassingly terrible! Do not go!

A friend told us about this restaurant/bar and wanting to find a new place to eat and hang out we decided to give it a try and I am glad we did. Parking: Complimentary Valet Parking only Atmosphere/ Decor: There is indoor and outdoor seating. Outside is decorated like a tiki bar on a tropical island. Indoors has a different theme but it was nice too. Tin ceilings and old fashioned lighting with a modern twist. They have also have live music in the evenings which was very good. We started drinking and eating outside but after numerous mosquito bites we went inside to finish our meal. Food: The menu is pretty vast but being we are both picky eaters we both opted for the Kobe burger. It was cooked to perfection and tasted delicious, the fries were good as well. It definitely paired well with a beer and they had many different beers on tap. Service: They were slow and not very attentive but we attributed that to the fact that we visited on a Friday night and they were packed. I find that most restaurants in the area have the same problem when they are busy. Overall we got everything we needed in due time. I asked for silverware to cut the burger but after 5 minutes I just started eating without it. By the time the waitress came back I only had one bite left. She actually said they had run out of silverware. Who knows! Overall we enjoyed our night out and we will definitely be back but next time we will go during the week when it is less crowded.

One of the few places I don't mind dining al fresco in the Florida summer heat/humidity. Really nice patio area, food was excellent, our server was really good. I got the Kobe burger and Teriyaki edamame - both were delicious. WATCH OUT for table poachers (patrons that sit at tables without going to hostess stand first) - they run wild on Saturday nights!

Food was ok. Bill was incorrect. Excuse was.."owner says it's a wash, but I will fix it. " Did not fix it. Check your bill...are they charging everyone 51 cents more per beer?

Pricey but we had wonderful service. Our waitress her name was Chelsea she was great helpful an suggested a delicious Sweet water Blue beer. The pictures of this place online does not do credit. Every table outside has a killer outdoor heater so don't be afraid if it's a little chilly out.

This is the best bar/gastro pub in Ormond and more importantly in all the surrounding Daytona beach area. Pretty busy place so don't expect a 15 minute dinner (although they do a quick lunch if you need it) but why would you want to leave? Delicious food, cold drinks and a great staff! Honestly, no need to go anywhere else. They can accommodate groups or just for date night. Awesome place!

I have now been here twice. The first time I went, I really enjoyed it. Food was good, waiter was attentive, etc. But I was there this past weekend. Pretty disappointing, which was kind of embarrassing because I suggested it to the party I was with. The service was pretty bad. The place was busy, but in no way swamped. Our server was incredibly slow, barely came by. We all ordered drinks (beers & soda, nothing mixed or fancy) and some came right away, others 10 mins later. Took forever to order our food, get our food, another round of drinks, etc. Plus, the few times we did see our waitress she was rude. Most disappointing however was the noise level. If your waitress standing next to you can't hear your beer order in a restaurant (NOT a dance club), then it's too loud. It was a guy playing the piano. He was fine, nothing special. But his presence did not add anything to our meal, and in fact we ended up leaving as soon as we could get our bill just because we couldn't even carry on a conversation at our table. It was really disappointing. Oh, and the pasta salad that came with my pork sliders (which were yummy!) was totally bland. It tasted like dry pasta. From now on I think I'll only visit here for lunch or VERY early dinners to avoid noise. And hopefully slooooooooooooooooooooooooooow service.

This is the hippest place around. No other restaurant in this area I've been to compares. It's great seeing such a well thought cocktail menu and a beer menu that houses more then miller lite, bud light, corona. The menu is interesting and very Denver, if you will. Wonderful experience and my new favorite place.

Cool place . Went for a business lunch today had shrimp and grits they were awesome. The waiter was a little slow and could have been more attentive, we are in the south and I expected freshly made tea but did not get it. I will give it another try soon and see if they can impress me enough to get another star

I love to stop at this gem everytime I'm in the area. The food is always consistent and the atmoshpere is great. I don't often spend my hard earned money eating out as I feel I can cook better than 90% of the restaurants in my area. But this place continues to get my cash. I will continue to return any chance I get.

Dynamic atmosphere with attentive and friendly staff. Great craft beer and cocktails. Interesting one off riffs on the typical Gastropub fair (pork wings are a must) ask for Scott the bartender he went above and beyond telling us about the area. Definitely will be going back!

The Grind is quite possibly the coolest pub/grill I've visited. The covered outdoor tiki bar area is awesome. And the food is equal to the decor. We had one of their flatbread pizzas, 'The Fig Leaves Are Falling', with a perfect thin crust and fresh toppings (arugula, figs, feta, truffle oil, and balsamic vinegar). I had the 'Kokomo Soldiers' kahlua pork sliders with a home made slaw and a Hawaiian macaroni salad. The sliders were a great combination of sweet and savory on a fresh slider bun. Our daughter had the 'One Love' curry chicken biryani rice plate which was likewise excellent. The other menu choices are equally eclectic with some very interesting flavor combinations that we are looking forward to sampling. There is a full bar and the beer menu occupies an entire page with an excellent selection of craft brews on tap and in bottles. The meal was topped off with an incredible chocolate Pots de Creme. All in all we enjoyed this first trip to The Grind and would recommend it without hesitation.

Great food & service! Love the ambiance & the artwork too. Me & my son stopped in on our vacation last week & we're glad we did! Waitresses were funny & friendly. We had the pork shanks & a yummy salad, that was huge. Beer was good too! We'll be back!

The Grind Gastropub and Kona Tiki Bar was fantastic. Andrea, our server took great care of my wife and her need to eat glut in free. The menu chooses were terrific and I chose the Kokoma (pork) Sliders. Great choice. I would definitely go back.

I had been hearing a few people talk about the Grind so I decided to give it a try. First of all the environment was nice. It was nothing like I expected it was going to be. I ordered the shrimp and grits and they were AMAZING!! Best grits I ever had. My server Lauren was very nice and polite. She knew the menu and was there anytime we needed anything. The food, the service and atmosphere was great.

Happened upon this establishment sure to the reviews. I have the signature burger and it had a fried egg in it. That is absolutely my favorite. If you have never tried it you should. The others in my party had the godfather which is a chicken breast dish and the chicken sandwich. All were wonderful this is a hidden jewel. If you didn't know it was there you may pass it by. We are outback at the tiki bar. All in all a wonderful meal.

I read the reviews and menu online and was excited to try Grind. They have a very extensive menu and all items are named after songs. The food was excellent. We had the chicken satay skewers and sea salt edamame to start. The chicken tasted fresh, not frozen and the edamame was done just right. I orders the Thai chicken pizza which was delicious, although a little bit burned in the edges. My daughter had the lobster mac n cheese which was to die for - very rich with nice sized chunks of lobster. My husband had the tuna steak with rice and veggies. The tuna was a very thick, generous portion. The service, however, was lacking. We had to ask another server for a second round of drinks as our server was no where to be found. Perhaps they were under staffed, I don't know. We ordered dessert to go which took 30 minutes - I was ready to leave without it when they said it was done (s'mores pizza). Evidently the first one was dropped and they had to make it again. It would have been nice if someone let us know rather then letting us just sit there, ignored for so long. The good? The kids devoured it.

Awesome outdoor bar and restaurant along Granada in Ormond! We went there on a Tuesday afternoon and got fed and served pretty fast. Overall, the food is unique and not your normal local franchise foods. Also they have over a dozen beers on tops with dozens more in bottles. And a lot of them are microbrews and not your standard fare. Prices were reasonable, roughly $10-$14 for a sandwich, $5 for a beer, etc. Great ambiance, will definitely come back!

Passed by this place and decided to stop by for a drink after a long beach day, very happy we did! Super cool place, love the decor and the food/drinks were yummy! Great customer service as well. They even have a tiki bar in the back.. Hence the name.. The grind gastropub & Kona tiki bar. What a gem!! We will definitely be back.

I've been waiting for this little gem of a place to reopen from their long awaited remodel/name change, and boy is it nice. Loads of pop art adorn the walls under old school brass light fixtures. The ambiance is spot on! The menu- AMAZING. The executive chef Todd did a smashing job offering a true gastropub experience! There are so many selections, it's borderline overwhelming. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for something different. There is also an outdoor patio called the Kona Bar out back. Enjoy!

We have been awaiting the re-opening of this place impatiently ever since Caffeine closed down for the remodel. I always thought Caffeine was a peculiar name for a bar/restaurant that didn't serve very much in the way of coffee, and I'll confess I find the name "Grind" a little odd as well. What is being ground? Is there a sausage factory in the back? I do not know what was in the owner's mind when he renamed it, but as it's his restaurant, not mine, I suppose it will remain a mystery and also probably none of my business. We arrived around 12:30 on a rainy, grey Saturday in February. Aside from some folks at the bar and a mirthful trio (seriously, I have never heard so much laughter) near the window, we were the only patrons in the place. But as they had only opened for the day a half an hour prior, and considering the dreary weather, I think that is understandable. The waitress/bartender came to take our drink orders and although I know this will sound like a complaint, I don't mean it with any unkindness or mean-spiritedness behind it. She had a perfectly lovely personality and was both friendly and very accommodating. However, I know there are going to be some glitches when the person tending the bar doesn't even know what a 'snakebite' is. My companion explained to her that is was a combination of a lager and a cider, and thank god he did, because she thought it was something mixed with fireball whiskey. I was excited to come to a tiki bar, so I thought I might order a tiki style drink. I didn't see anything like that listed on their specialty drink menu, so I asked if she could make me a Fogcutter. She had never heard of this, so I looked up the recipe on my phone and showed it to her. She informed me she didn't have all of ingredients for it. I tried again, with something that was maybe more familiar sounding: "A Singapore Sling?" I ventured. Again, no recognition. I decided I would just make it easy and order something off their drink menu, so I went with the "Whole Lotta Love", which seemed to be some sort of cucumber martini made with Hendricks and St. Germaine. "Blueberry, raspberry, or strawberry?" she asked. ...huh...? I must have looked perplexed because she repeated herself. "Do you want a blueberry, raspberry, strawberry mumblemurflething? Or, you can go with the original." She added helpfully. I couldn't quite make out what she was saying, but I was starting to feel like an idiot, so I didn't ask her to repeat herself. At this point I was so confused, because I really just wanted my glorified martini, not all this sweet crap that probably tastes like toxic Jolly Ranchers on steroids. I just went with the "original" - whatever that was. She brought out our drinks, his snakebite and my...mojito...? Ok, whatever. I was hungry and I didn't want to waste any more time on beverages. From the appetizer menu we ordered the 'Running Down A Dream' to share: "Truffle Marinated Portabella Fries lightly breaded in Panko & Parsley & drizzled with a Gorgonzola Fondue & Balsamic Reduction. " and we also split a pizza, The White Room: "Fresh Ricotta, Mozzarella di Buffalo, Parmgiano Reggiano & Basil". During the time we waited for our food, which was really not long at all, 3 more couples and two families showed up. In all the time I'd visited the previous incarnation of this place, I had never seen it so busy. I think that speaks to how happy people are with it now, and I am glad to see it, because I think Grind really has a lot of promise. The decor is mainly the same - although they've replaced most of the SHAG art with pieces by Niagara...but they're both really great artists whose work I love, so am happy either way. They've remodeled some, so it definitely feels roomier, too. I was contemplating the changes when our food arrived at the table and ...wow. The pizza was delicious - a crisp, flavorful crust topped with pillowy oozy cheeses, and plenty to split between two people without leftovers but without leaving us feeling stuffed. The only weird bit is that there was a cardboard disk underneath, exactly like the kind that's underneath the shrink-wrapped pizza you get from the frozen foods section of the grocery store. Not sure what to make of that, and the waitress 's vague replies to our questions did not shed any light on it. The portabella fries were also pretty tasty and an interesting alternative to say, cheese sticks or french fries that you might normally see on an appetizer menu. The gorgonzola fondue was more like a lukewarm salad dressing, but it was still a nice dipping sauce to have on hand. It was not an inexpensive meal, but then again, this is not really standard bar food. I think a lot of thought went into the menu; there are definitely some unique choices that you won't find elsewhere in the area, and that is reflected in the prices. We will be back for certain. Maybe the next time the bartender will have picked up a few tricks!

Horrible bartender when we went back last week. She did not welcome us, had no idea when happy hour was, had to ask for descriptions of the craft beers. She was unwelcoming, unfriendly, uninterested in talking. A bartender should have a personality! She didn't. I don't expect to have them chat small talk necessarily, but talk about what your establishment is selling! Know the beers, the specials, the food. So frustrating. I will avoid having her serve us in the future. It was Monday night. Blond heavy set and worthless!

The only reason I am giving four stars is due to some slow service. However, they were short on staff. This place is a hidden gem. We drove past it a few times before going in while on vacation. We had no idea that there was the best tiki bar behind it! The beer choices are awesome and the food was fantastic. We had a group of 8, and everyone loved their meal. Our group of 8 had drinks, dinner, and desserts for about $260.

I absolutely LOVE the Grind! I was visiting Florida from Phoenix and wanted an original place that compared to the awesome food scene in AZ. The Grind was recommended and for good reason. Lauren at the bar was EXCELLENT! She knew the menu, the bar, and the food. I was told the lobster Mac and Cheese was a crowd favorite, and I must admit, IT WAS DELICIOUS! The sweet potato fries were also amazing. I didn't think I would like the powdered sugar on top, but boy was I wrong. My friend had the grind burger and it was down before my Mac and Cheese! So good. Great food, great service. Just what I wanted. The only thing I didn't like was campfire pizza dessert. Good, but not great.

We were heading to beachside to another place and passed Grind Gastropub and both of us said, heck let's try a new place.. What a great decision as this place is so kewl and the food was quite good as well.. The wild artwork of movie stars as Vamps and other "Going the Wild Side" characters is a total hoot. Our server Rachel was a delight, fun, happy, efficient and made us feel so welcomed to the point of asking our names for when we return. We ordered the "Fish Called Wanda"Tacos, made with Mahi Mahi, blackened with a lot of great hot spice and the "One Love" Curried Chicken & Rice entrees. The Blackened Tacos were quite hot with wonderful spices and came with some of the best seasoned fries we have had in a long time. The Curried Chicken dish with vegetables was quite wonderful, especially when you mixed the Asian Hot sauce drizzled on the side of the plate. They have a large selection of draft beers/ales including my favorite Newcastle Brown and we enjoyed both of our choices. There is a wonderful Tiki Bar area in the back and was told they have live music weekend nights and as well as a Cellar and Private Dining room for larger groups that can be reserved. Heard about their flat crust wood fired pizzas, which we definitely want to go back and sample. Prices are moderate and for 2 Pint Beers and 2 Entrees, our bill came to $39 - quite reasonable. Can't wait to take our friends there soon....

I was looking for a new place to go on my birthday and decided to try this new place. I am so glad we stopped in. The food was amazing. My husband had the Buffalo burger and it was the best burger I've ever tasted. I had Turning Japanese ( chicken stir fry w/ veg wrapped in napa cabbage ) it was great. Will definitely be back. Also excellent service.

Love this spot. On this last visit I had the Eddie Would Go burger, and once again it was amazing. The wagu burger was cooked to a perfect medium and the combination of flavors is great. Creamy boursin cheese, sautéed mushrooms, and I love the crunch from the slaw. The only reason I don't give 5 stars to this burger is that the sweet potato fries were cold......again. I don' t know what it is about this kitchen but they seem incapable of serving an order of hot fries.

We came a little over a year ago for my birthday dinner when they first remodeled the place, we sat inside. The drinks that were delivered were wrong and once corrected were too sweet. My food wasn't that great but thought maybe I just ordered the wrong thing because everyone I was with liked theirs. I heard about the Sunday brunch and decided to try it out because of the great reviews and Bloody Mary bar. I downloaded the menu prior to going and they seemed like they had a decent selection. Once we arrived the only parking was valet which is nice but I'd rather just park myself and walk inside. Not to mention the poor valet was drenched with sweat and soaked our car seat. The atmosphere was really nice and I was surprised when we were seated how large the back area was. Once we were seated our server greeted us and gave us our menus which were completely different than the one I downloaded. There were probably about 6 or 7 things to choose from, a list of a la carte items and the breakfast buffet. My boyfriend and I both ordered the Bloody Mary's which we had to walk inside to the bar to get. The items for the skewers while tempting were all fried, breaded and extremely greasy (ex. A pizza roll wrapped in bacon). I stuck with some jalapeño stuffed olives, I do not eat dairy or wheat so the options were limited. I decided to go with the buffet because I couldn't eat any of the menu items which I was disappointed about because online they had omelette on the menu. The buffet area was so dark I could barely see the food. The plates were dirty and the utensils used to serve the food were covered in grease. They had pre-made omelettes with cheese inside them and then a bunch of raw ingredients on the side, I didn't mind these but I had to scrape the cheese off and eat my onions raw. The fruit platter was already mostly gone when we got to it and it didn't seem like they were going to replenish it. I had some sausage and bacon as well which was barely cooked so the fat wasn't the most pleasant thing to bite into. All of the servers besides the two guys inside at the bloody mary bar seemed rude and not really happy to be there. When I went inside to get some more food there were no plates left, there was an employee making a to-go plate so I figured he must have been off the clock. I asked the man restocking the food if we could get some more plates and he told the man making the to-go plate to get them. I don't know. I was not impressed with this visit and probably will not return to eat here again. Maybe some drinks at the bar because it is a nice place but the food has not been very desirable and the service while good, came with an undeserved attitude.

Very unique place and parking in the back. Two very different vibes from Tiki Bar to Grinds. Free valet and everyone is super friendly. We went to the bar at Grinds. Lauren was our bartender. She was super informative and literally very excited to have new customers. Her recommendations were on point. Do not pass on the app. The portobello fries are awesome. Crispy with two great sauces - a ranch based sauce and balsamic glaze. The pizza did not disappoint. They can easily feed two. We ordered the Johnny Be Gouda and Struttin the Barbecue (brisket). They are excellent recommendations and would definitely order again. If you are visiting the Daytona area, this is a must. It is a fresh break from the many fried seafood venues.

We have a beach house in Ormond Beach and I wanted to explore what the local spots have to offer. I came with a friend and sat at the bar. Grind has a laid back surfer atmosphere and staff and patrons were pretty happy and chill. The bartenders were super friendly and helpful. We weren't starving and decided to try their portabella mushroom fries and their Ahi tuna appetizers, both were OK. The cocktails though were really good. Also decent prices for Jamison on the rocks, my usual drink. The place was bustling with locals and even though you can tell that a few of the patrons were pretty boozy, everyone was just having a good time. I will definitely come back for their Bloody Mary brunch on a Sunday.

So mad I found this place on our last night visiting Ormond Beach. If I knew about it earlier, I would've visited here at least two or three more times...it's that good. We entered the front gastropub not knowing about the back at all. Thank god we ended up back there- it was the perfect beachy Hawaiian themed atmosphere, with a live band and palm trees everywhere and cute decorations...plus a full bar. Service was great. For how crazy packed it was, our waitress Brittany was super attentive. Now on to the best part- the food and drinks. I didn't want any of their several specialty cocktails, though they all sounded great. I got a plain margarita and it was perfectly made. Props to the bartender. To start, we ordered the signature appetizer of deep fried eggplant fries with balsamic glaze and some type of cheesy jalapeño dip. They were so tasty and breaded perfectly, not greasy or overdone in any way. The balsamic glaze added a much needed acidity. For entrees, I was torn between everything on the menu cause it all sounded really enticing. We ended up each getting wood fired pizzas, one with Cajun crabmeat and shrimp, and another with BBQ brisket and coleslaw. Both were absolutely fantastic- messy, but in a good way. The shrimp and crab were fresh and perfectly seasoned and had some kind of cheese that complimented the flavors wonderfully. The brisket had a bit of a kick and the coleslaw was a nice touch. Both pizzas had thin, crispy crusts. I'm kicking myself for not ordering the lobster pizza. Maybe next time. Will absolutely be back here to try all the other pizzas and rest of the menu on our next vacation.

To be perfectly honest, I wasn't a big fan of their menu, and their beer/wine list seemed a bit high on the price when I used to go there more often. The decor is nice, and service is ok. I like the fact that they redid the inside and there's no more DJ. The outside tiki bar is quite quirky, and a nice place to spend a cool evening out. The only reason I give it 4 instead of 3 stars? BRUNCH. I don't care for their regular menu, but their brunch menu is pretty darn good, and they have $10 bottomless mimosas, can't beat that. I'm not a bloody mary person, but my friends really like it, and you can customize it with all kinds of crazy things.

Yet another gem from Yelp! This place is off the chain; delicious!!! We went in at lunch & had the portabello "fries" for an appetizer/ awesome doesn't even do it justice. I had the signature burger, the other people in my party had lobster grilled cheese, house salad with chicken and poke; all dishes were top notch & tasty. Our waitress was very good & very friendly. Huge selection of beer, too!
